Did you know that...
- “Marital property” consists of all assets acquired during the marriage, with very few exceptions, regardless of title or whose name the asset is in?
- A spouse's pension and retirement savings, to the extent funded during the marriage, is marital property subject to “equitable distribution”?
At Frost & Kavanaugh, we offer a wide variety of family law services including legal separation and divorce, custody/visitation and child support, family offenses and juvenile delinquent cases, and pre-nuptial/post-nuptial agreements. Our firm practices extensively in Supreme Court and the local Family Courts of New York State. We also handle complicated Appellate cases where the client has not received a satisfactory result at the trial level.
Divorce and separation, particularly those involving children, require legal counsel that is not only knowledgeable of the law, but compassionate and understanding. We learn from you, our client, the details of your family situation and the outcome you wish to achieve. Patience and understanding are the hallmarks of our commitment to you. When you hire Frost & Kavanaugh, you become our “boss” by deciding the ultimate objectives of your case. Over 95% of our family law clients settle their cases without the need for a painful trial. It is our belief that you are in the best position to dictate what is best for you and your family, not lawyers or a stranger in a black robe.
With more than twenty-five years of experience in family law, David J. Kavanaugh has represented clients from the newly married (who just made a mistake) to the spouses of “vintage marriages.” We serve clients with a modest income and clients with accumulated wealth, as well as the multi-millionaire with extensive marital estates and complicated business and property valuation issues.
We are proud to announce that the overwhelming majority of our clients come to us by referral from other lawyers, by judges, and recommendation from former, satisfied clients.
Divorce retainers start at $3,500, and Family Court retainers start at $2,500, and vary according to complexity and the amount of work to be performed. Call us to schedule a consultation so that we may discuss your case. While there is a small consultation fee, it is applied toward your retainer fee if you choose to hire us.
